Working together with families, policymakers, and society, IBCLCs provide expert breastfeeding and lactation care, promote changes that support breastfeeding and help reduce the risks of not breastfeeding.The international certification board that provides IBCLC credentials is IBLCE (International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners), where certification can be awarded after IBCLC candidates fulfill administrative requirements, then take a computer-based test (CBT) and through Live Remote Proctoring (LRP).Certification is held twice per year. For year 2023, the certification period are in March and September. Nearly 1,700 candidates from 58 countries participated in the IBCLC certification examination in March 2023, including Indonesia.As a team that actively provides lactation services in Indonesia, members of the Praborini lactation team also took part in the IBCLC certification exam. Preparations are made several months before the exam, including textbooks reading and questions discussing. Exam results are announced about 3 months after the exam is administered.
